Bureau voor Sociale Argumentatie, BSA

The BSA was founded by sociologist Vasco Lub and focuses on applied scientific research in the social and public domain. Government institutions often make limited use of knowledge developed in the academic environment. The academic world, in turn, sometimes has little regard for the social application of social science insights or the unruly policy practice. Moreover, the dynamics of the policy are generally higher than the academic pace, and this causes distance.

Short description NWP organisation

The BSA was founded by sociologist Vasco Lub and focuses on applied scientific research in the social and public domain.

Government institutions often make limited use of knowledge developed in the academic environment. The academic world, in turn, sometimes has little regard for the social application of social science insights or the unruly policy practice. Moreover, the dynamics of the policy are generally higher than the academic pace, and this causes distance.

Reducing the distance between social science and policy practice is an important mission of the agency. It aims to generate practical knowledge through applied research. Linking abstract sociological knowledge with everyday issues forms a guiding principle in this regard.
